Safety and Fire Regulations
First Aid
A first aid box is provided at the Hall and must remain on the premises at all times.
Hirers should familiarise themselves with its location before their activity begins and report any items that have been used or are missing.
Keeping Exits and Escape Routes Clear
All emergency exits, doorways, corridors and escape routes must be kept clear at all times.
Do not place tables, chairs, equipment, bags, coats or other items where they could obstruct an exit or escape route.
Emergency exit doors must not be locked, blocked or otherwise prevented from being opened when the Hall is occupied.
Seating Arrangements
Where chairs are arranged in rows, adequate gangways must be maintained to allow people to move safely and quickly to the exits.
The seating layout must not exceed the maximum capacity for the room or obstruct any emergency exit or escape route.
Fire Safety
Hirers must ensure that
- All emergency exits and escape routes remain clear.
- Everyone knows where the emergency exits are located.
- The fire alarm and firefighting equipment are not obstructed.
- Any fire doors are kept closed as required and are never wedged or propped open.
- The maximum permitted occupancy is not exceeded.
- A responsible person is present who knows what to do in the event of a fire.
If there is a fire:
- Raise the alarm immediately.
- Evacuate the building using the nearest safe exit.
- Call 999 and ask for the Fire & Rescue Service
- Give the location as Whalley Village Hall and provide the Hall address. (Post code BB7 9TD)
- Do not re-enter the building until authorised to do so.
- Assemble at the designated assembly point and account for everyone in your group.
- Only attempt to use a fire extinguisher if it is safe to do so and you have been trained.
Maximum Occupancy
- Main Hall: Capacity 150
- Austin Room: Capacity 50
- Meeting Room: Capacity 25
